When I received the invitation to visit a new destination and stay in one of Malta’s most historic hotels, I didn't hesitate. Places shaped by layers of history have an irresistible allure, and Malta— like a small, sunlit jewel in the Mediterranean—offers exactly that. The island shows signs of numerous civilisations: Romans, Moors, the Knights of St. John, the French, and the British. Their influence is evident in the fortresses along the cliffs, the megalithic temples older than the pyramids, and the mysterious Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, an underground sanctuary carved around 4000 BC. Malta is a place that encourages you to observe closely, wander freely, and discover its secrets.
