Infact, the 176sqm stately ballroom has an air of Marie Antoinette decadence with a series of fluted Corinthian pilasters, mirrored panels with gilded frames, and awe inspiring, rich decorative ceilings; the one-of-a-kind area is reminiscent of one of the decadent Parisian locations used for haute couture shows of the past century – the adjacent rooftop view spans as far as the London Eye.
This editor stayed in The Grand Regent Suite, one of three in the hotel, a one bedroom, two bathroom and separate living space area that is resemblant of a spacious luxury apartment. Fitted with Portland stone walls (all hotel rooms are either Portland or Montana stone), and autumnal 70’s retro chic furniture in colourways such as pistachio, olive, mustard yellow textured in soft leather to juxtapose the clean lines of the room’s design. The carrara marbled bathroom with opulent bathtub, rainfall shower, double sinks and mirror TV screens is the showpiece of the suite; other fine touches include the six-piece marbled top dining table in the living area, the luxury bar and corner pantry, surround entertainment system and double walk-in wardrobe, mirror complex.
