Dripping in Jewels
Jewels that make a splash. By Susan Foster
What better way to sparkle through the holidays than being dripped in jewels that have major festive-factor—think tear-drop icicle elegance meets gift-wrapped glamour. In all my years of designing jewellery, the curve of a pear-shaped stone has always remained at the top of my list of motifs. I love a pear-shaped engagement ring as it reminds me of the late 1960s, when that shape had a surge in popularity at a time when chic elegant women ruled the social scene - think Truman Capote's swans. When Richard Burton gave Elizabeth Taylor her 69.42ct pear-shaped diamond in 1969, it only exacerbated the excitement of the teardrop shape style.
