Open to both hotel guests and London residents, the bakery will honor traditional British delicacies with a modern twist. Richard Hart is the founder of Copenhagen’s Hart Bageri, acclaimed as one of the world’s best bakeries, which he opened in partnership with René Redzepi of Noma. He was previously head baker at the legendary Tartine in San Francisco. Originally from London, England, he currently lives in Mexico City, where he is opening his newest project, Green Rhino. He is the author of Richard Hart Bread: Intuitive Sourdough Baking, published in the United Kingdom in January 2025 via Hardie Grant Books.
The opening of Claridge’s Bakery marks Richard Hart’s much anticipated return to the United Kingdom and builds on decades of travels and work across the globe, from San Francisco to Copenhagen and Mexico City. ‘I am excited and honoured to be the executive baker and creative director at Claridge’s Bakery,’ says Hart, who made his mark as head baker at San Francisco’s Tartine Bakery before founding Copenhagen’s Hart Bageri in partnership with René Redzepi of Noma. ′My goal is to celebrate timeless British baked favourites in one of the most notable British institutions.
