The Francis de Lara brand emerged when Pietrus, originally from the Philippines and now based in London, paused his career of photographing supermodels to attend the prestigious Metallo Nobile jewellery school in Florence. It was during a visit to the Uffizi Gallery, renowned for housing some of the most iconic Renaissance artworks, that he experienced his moment of inspiration. "I wanted to do something different in jewellery and I was looking at these extraordinary Renaissance portraits of men and women wearing incredible rings and necklaces and I thought, what if they wore glasses in the same style?"
